RIGHTS

Those of us who work in education believe that certain rights are an integral part of our profession.  These rights protect us so that we may do our job without unfair treatment or intimidation.  Having these rights, we are free to educate and enlighten students:

  • Academic freedom in the search for truth and its edification.

  • Equal opportunity applies to all persons, regardless of race, creed, religion, age, sex or national origin.

  • Equality of treatment in the classroom in discussing his/her subject and related matters.

  • Notification of any  changes in any course procedures, textbooks and matters affecting that instructor, at least one semester in advance of such changes.

  • Access to the grievance procedure for any adjunct who believes his/her rights have been violated relative to course assignment, seniority or other conditions that have an adverse effect on his/her professional standing.
