Coalition Calls It Right

Except for the symbolic endorsement of David Sidikman, every legislative and congressional endorsement made by the Nassau County Coalition of Labor proved prophetic as every Democrat and Republican that received the coalition endorsement won on Election Day.

For United States Senate: Chuck Schumer (D).

For United States Congress: Steve Israel (D), Peter King (R), Gary Ackerman (D).

For New York State Senate: Carl Marcellino (R), Kemp Hannon (R), Michael Balboni (R), Charles Fuschillo (R), Dean Skelos (R).

For New York State Assembly: Joseph Saladino (R), Thomas DiNapoli (D), Earlene Hooper (D), Harvey Weisenberg (D).

It was a clean sweep in the election of lawmakers. In the short time the county unions have gotten together in the coalition, they have proven the value of labor’s collective strength. AFA President Charles Loiacono, who also serves as president of the coalition, has received letters and calls from the endorsed candidates expressing thanks to all the unions.

AFA Election Redux

Marty Kumbar, AFA Elections Committee Chair, reports that a goof by the printer caused the incorrect names for the election of department representatives to appear on ballots mailed to AFA members.

Kumbar and AFA Financial Secretary Neil McLellan quickly visited the printer to arrange for a reprinting of the ballots. Expect a new ballot to arrive shortly.
