The Professional Excellence Committee has completed its screening of candidates for the coveted Professional Excellence Award and has chosen Louis Buda of the Economics Department.

Lou became an adjunct instructor in 1965. He moved into the full-time faculty in 1983. All the while, Lou continued to teach as an adjunct  professor.

Lou received his B.A. from St. John?s, his M.A. from Hunter, worked on his Ph.D. at NYU where he graduated ABD. He taught Social Studies in the N.Y.C. secondary schools for 28 years.

Among his honors are the Honor?s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the N.Y.S. Chancellor?s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and a Fellowship at the University of Arizona.

One of the most interesting aspects of Lou?s career is that he has been a model of union loyalty. As a full-time member of the economics department and an adjunct professor, Lou has remained faithful to both jurisdictions.

We remember well how Lou walked the picket lines when the AFA was fighting for justice.
