Executive Board

On Saturday September 11th, the AFA Executive Board voted unanimously to recommend a strike if a successor agreement has not been negotiated by the time the membership meeting is held on September 29th

“The Executive Board was wise in setting the stage for a massive walkout if there is no new contract to ratify,” said AFA President Charles Loiacono. “We have a very experienced Executive Board. They have been here before, and they know that if you go beyond the expiration of an existing contract, you go on interminably before negotiating a new one.”

To date, the total time spent at the negotiations table has been about one hour. The other side knows well how to waste time.

AFA and NCCFT Join Forces to Seek Fair Contracts

For the first time since the formation of both campus unions, the leadership of the AFA and the NCCFT have agreed to help each other finalize fair and equitable contracts.

The language of the agreement reads:

The AFA and the NCCFT are united in their efforts to secure just settlements in our respective contract negotiations.

Both unions will support each other’s efforts towards achieving our goals.

“That’s historic,” said Vice-President Bob Gaudino. “The relationship between our two unions has been very amicable over the last few years, and as a result things have run much more smoothly that at times in the past. This agreement proves that we share the same goals and that both unions recognize that in unity there is strength.”
