At the March 11th Executive Board/Representative Assembly meeting, the combined gathering unanimously accepted the recommendation of the Professional Excellence Committee to award Peg Renner the AFA coveted award. The group then broke with the tradition of naming someone outside the organization as “Man of the Year” and unanimously acclaimed that the time had come to spotlight the accomplishments of our own president. Both awards will be presented at the AFA annual Spring Conference which will be held at the Chateau Briand in Westbury on May 13th starting at 11:30 A.M. “This promises to be the biggest Spring Conference yet,” said Jerry Schwartz, chairman of the Spring Conference Committee. “I anticipate that we will run out of table space soon after we mail out invitations. Everyone is going to want to be at this bash.” Vice-President Bob Gaudino said, “We all know of the wonderful work Peg Renner has done for the adjunct faculty and of her sterling background. Her award is well deserved. “As for Charlie, he has been our man for every year—a man for all seasons. All our members will want to show their appreciation for all Charlie has done for them. The Chateau Briand will have to brace itself for a big crowd.”
