Just when it appeared that peace had finally descended on NCC, the administration went back to business as usual—monkey business that is.

This administration has a long history of dishonest and deceptive practices, especially as regards their relationship with the AFA.

As recently as December 2005, they tried to sneak a provision into the NCCFT contract that would have denied full-timers the right to teach day adjunct courses.

The AFA president caught them in the act and got them to remove that provision.

Knowing that the AFA leadership no longer trusted the college president, members of the Board of Trustees got involved directly with the AFA in an effort to bring harmonious relations and trust back into the mix.

“It was a refreshing change,” said AFA President Charles Loiacono. “It really looked like a new beginning. The war between the AFA and this administration had gone on for more than 25 years. During that time it was tough to keep up with the lies, the double-crosses, and the basic dishonesty of these people. You simply could not trust them. Then came this extended hand from the Board of Trustees.

“As it turned out, there was something the trustees wanted, and they were willing to make a deal to get it. We made the deal. It had two parts. We kept our word on both parts. They kept their word on one and broke their word on the other.”

And so, we begin the New Year as we have begun many others—on guard!
