At a meeting of the Education Committee of the Nassau County Legislature held on February 4th, an interesting revelation came forth.

“Members of the administration were making their usual pitch for more money, while singing the praises of NCC,” said AFA President Charles Loiacono, “when toward the end of the session, a question came from the dais concerning ELI/LINCC and my accusation that taxpayer monies could not be used to support F1 Visa students enrolled in continuing education. The questioner wanted

to know if anything had developed on that score.

“To my surprise,” continued Loiacono, “Jack Ostling went to the microphone and announced that the DA’s office and the office of the U.S. Department of Education were coming to NCC to discuss the program. He was quite confident that he would put the whole business to rest because he had an opinion from the County Attorney that what this administration has done vis-à-vis ELI/LINCC has been perfectly legal.”

The Union’s Position is somewhat different
